Every Monday through Friday I now wait 30 – 45 minutes to snag my son from school. Instead of whining about it or listing all the things I could better do with this time, I’m looking on the bright side. Hello, this is a gift from my attentive Father! This is 30 – 45 minutes with no interruptions. I made a yummy turmeric latte and I’ve got a nice book to read and I’m going to devote this time to me! Sounds lovely to me.

So often my brain goes straight to list negative after negative. This time could make me twiddle my thumbs and fume about the things on my to-do list. Laundry, dishes, a shower, workout, you fill in from your list. Or I could zone out and scroll Instagram for the whole 45 minutes. Nope! Not going to happen. I’m choosing to shift my focus from the negative to the positive.

So my list of things I could do in this time :

  • paint my nails
  • read a book or magazine
  • meditate
  • jam out to some good music
  • listen to a podcast.

It sounds cliche, but looking on the bright side can make such a difference in your whole attitude. Give it a shot! How can you turn something loathsome into something lovely?
