Rain Days

Rain days are special around my house. Rain means that daddy may get off work and we’ll get to have some special time with him! When J was younger, as soon as it started to rain we would run to the front porch and do a rain dance for daddy to come home!

We do not let rain stop us!

The after effects of Hurricane Harvey moved our direction and we had rain for almost 3 days. We live near a somewhat small river and it can cause flooding that covers our road. While there is another way for us to get to town, the kids love to go see the flooded road and bridge.

But we didn’t want to sit home, so out we went! We headed to our local outdoor store. Then to dinner.

At dinner we could look out at this courtyard and the kids noticed a little boy statue sitting on the wall. Of course they had to go and say hello

Then, ice cream. We have to most delicious ice cream place, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream. I’ve mainly excluded dairy from my diet, but Jeni’s is worth it!

We woke up to even more rain the next day. So we put on our boots and headed to Downtown Franklin. I’ve been eating gluten and dairy free, but the hubby is over that. He wanted a good draught beer. Mellow Mushroom, here we come! Our Mellow has an arcade in the front and the kids brought a roll of quarters. They were in there for over an hour playing and winning rubber ducks out of a claw game.

There is so much history in Downtown Franklin and we try to stop and read the historical signs and point out places to the kids.

It was still raining Friday morning. So we stayed a little closer to home and went to Leiper’s Fork. We went to Puckett’s then the library. If it’s raining, we’re going to need books and movies!

That was our rainy weekend that ended up being rather lovely!
